Center for Advanced Surgery - Areas of Focus
Endocrine Health
Minimally invasive robotic thyroid surgery is a specialty of our surgeons. Advanced robotic instruments enter through a small incision in the armpit. Robotic thyroid surgery is as safe and effective as traditional thyroid surgery, but with the advantage of fewer complications and faster recoveries.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, is the severe reflux of stomach acid into the throat or mouth. The most common symptom of GERD is heartburn, but not everyone who suffers heartburn has GERD. If you experience acid reflux two or three times a week or more, and you suffer other symptoms, such as pain or difficulty swallowing, vomiting or a persistent sore throat, you may have GERD.
Left untreated, GERD can cause erosion or ulcers of the esophagus and other severe gastric complications. GMIS as a dedicated team of specialists can diagnose and treat GERD by prescribing motility testing, diet and lifestyle changes, over-the-counter antacids, prescription medicines, and surgery in the most serious cases.
Hemorrhoid
Chronic recurring hemorrhoids can be painful and uncomfortable and have a negative impact on your quality of life. Our clinic provides expert colon and rectal surgeons to get you diagnosed quickly so you can experience relief fast, and return to your active lifestyle as soon as possible. Our clinic successfully treats more than 1,000 hemorrhoid cases each year. Our specialists utilize a variety of state-of-the-art treatments, ranging from minimally invasive rubber band ligation and sclerotherapy to the virtually painless infrared coagulation procedure to reduce swelling, ease pain and correct aggravating hemorrhoids fast.
Hernia
An estimated 5 million Americans are suffering with a hernia and each year and about one million hernia repairs are performed annually in the U.S. Hernias can cause severe pain and will not get better or repair on their own. Surgery is the only way to correct a hernia. Many people avoid hernia surgery because they mistakenly believe the procedure will require an overnight hospital stay and a lengthy, painful recovery. But left untreated, hernias can result in other serious complications.
Since there are various types of hernias, our surgeons provide a variety of state-of-the-art surgical options, including minimally invasive, outpatient laparoscopic techniques. Minimally invasive laparoscopic hernia repair is performed with very little downtime, better results and aggressive pain control methods for a more comfortable recovery.
