Hemorrhoid Treatment

Hemorrhoid Treatment

About

Millions of Americans currently suffer from hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are generally not a severe problem, but they can be very bothersome. Sometimes, hemorrhoids can be a detector for a more serious condition, such as colon or rectal cancer. For that reason, hemorrhoids need to be diagnosed and treated by a medical expert.

Hemorrhoids are a very common condition that affects both men and women every day. More than half a million people will seek treatment for hemorrhoids each year. Many will delay treatment due to embarrassment, but you don't have to.

Today’s treatment options make some types of hemorrhoid removal much less painful and the vast majority can be treated in your doctor’s office, with minimal discomfort and pain. Our center successfully treats 89% of our cases in the office

The Northwest Hemorrhoid Center, a service of The Oregon Clinic, is dedicated to providing the newest treatment options available. During your exam, your surgeon will discuss what options are best suited for your specific needs and will work with you to design an individual treatment plan.

Health Info

Hemorrhoids are one of the most common ailments for men and women alike. Onset commonly occurs after the age of 30, but hemorrhoids are reported in people of all ages. Half of adults have had to deal with the itching, discomfort, and bleeding that can signal the presence of hemorrhoids and many people are embarrassed and will suffer unnecessarily before seeking treatment.

Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in your anal canal and lower rectum. Each of us has blood vessels; or hemorrhoids, within the anus that tend to stretch under pressure, somewhat like varicose veins in the legs. It is believed that hemorrhoids may exist to protect and cushion the anal canal. These veins become swollen and sometimes cause bleeding, pain and itching. They can occur both inside (internal hemorrhoids) and outside of the rectum (external hemorrhoids). Sometimes, straining can cause a protruding or prolapsed hemorrhoid.
