Dr. Amy Zhu is a board-certified gastroenterologist who cares for patients with a broad range of digestive conditions, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She has practiced at The Oregon Clinic Gastroenterology East since 2013 and is part of its IBD Center. She also provides general gastroenterology care and colon cancer screening. 

Dr. Zhu believes that understanding a diagnosis and the available treatment options helps patients take an active role in their care. She values long-term relationships with her patients and a collaborative approach that considers both their medical needs and the impact of digestive illness on everyday life. 

Dr. Zhu earned her medical degree at UCLA and completed her internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She then completed her gastroenterology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. 

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Zhu teaches internal medicine to residents at Providence Portland Medical Center, where she serves as GI Subspecialty Director for the residency program. She participates in the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s IBD Qorus quality improvement initiative and provides physician education on IBD treatment and safety. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Zhu enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures, and spending time with her husband and two children.
