Dr. Adam Avant was drawn to radiation oncology because of the human connection involved in shared decision making, which is essential during cancer treatment. Knowing that no two patients are the same, he believes every treatment plan should be tailored to the individual. Dr. Avant enjoys building relationships with his patients and considers it a privilege to help guide and support them throughout their cancer journey. 
 
To provide the best possible care, Dr. Avant combines this patient-centered approach with advanced radiation treatment techniques. He is continually energized by advancements in radiation oncology and completed advanced training in gynecological high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). His goal is to use these specialized tools thoughtfully and collaboratively, creating treatment plans that reflect each patient’s unique diagnosis, goals, and circumstances. 
 
Outside of work, Dr. Avant enjoys hiking, camping, running, traveling, and cooking. He and his wife enjoy exploring Portland’s restaurant and cafe scene, spending time outdoors with their two dogs, and taking advantage of the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty and strong sense of community.
