Dr. Meredith Grover, a pediatrician with The Oregon Clinic Broadway Medical, spoke with Public News Service to remind families that well-child visits are an important part of back-to-school planning.
Dr. Grover explained that when families only come in for scheduled vaccine visits, doctors miss the chance to check on and track a child’s speech, growth, and physical development at each age. She also explained that looking at a child’s growth over time, including height and weight, gives important insights into nutrition and other issues.
If your child’s checkup isn’t on the calendar yet, now is a good time to call and schedule.
