Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL)

Overview

Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL) occurs when there is damage to the inner ear or to the nerve between the inner ear and the brain.

Causes

SNHL can be caused by: noise exposure, trauma, aging, genetics, etc. 

Symptoms

 People with SNHL notice a reduction in volume and often report a loss of clarity. 

Treatments

Most hearing aid wearers have SNHL.
