Dr. Richard Auran is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee reconstruction (hip and knee replacement), serving patients throughout Portland and Beaverton, Oregon. His goal is to help patients relieve joint pain, restore mobility, and return to the activities they enjoy through personalized, evidence-based care.
As a hip and knee reconstruction specialist, Dr. Auran has advanced expertise in both primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. He has experience with a variety of modern implant systems, surgical techniques, and robotic-assisted technologies, allowing him to individualize treatment based on each patient’s anatomy, needs, and goals.
For patients undergoing total hip replacement, Dr. Auran offers minimally invasive surgical techniques, including the Direct Anterior and Direct Superior approaches to hip replacement. These techniques are designed to minimize disruption to surrounding tissues and support recovery and return to activities.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Dr. Auran’s practice is seeing patients return to the activities that pain once made difficult. Whether a patient wants to walk without pain, return to golf, hike in the Pacific Northwest, bike, ski, dance, travel, or keep up with their grandchildren, Dr. Auran is committed to helping patients achieve their goals and maintain long-term mobility and quality of life.
Dr. Auran was excited to make the Portland, Oregon area his home, drawn to the region’s natural beauty and abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing with their dog, hiking, and skiing.
