Dr. Re-I Chin is a radiation oncologist who believes patients should feel informed, supported, and cared for throughout every step of cancer treatment. She understands that radiation therapy can feel intimidating at first, and she strives to create a calm, welcoming environment where patients and families feel comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns.
Dr. Chin approaches each patient as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. She takes time to listen, understand what matters most to each patient, and explain the role of radiation in clear, practical terms. Her goal is to help patients feel confident in their treatment plan and prepared for what to expect before, during, and after radiation.
In her practice, Dr. Chin cares for patients with a broad range of cancers using personalized, evidence-based radiation therapy. Her clinical interests include breast cancer, lung and thoracic cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, gynecologic cancers, genitourinary cancers, brain and central nervous system tumors, head and neck cancers, skin cancers, hematologic malignancies, metastatic cancers, and selected benign conditions.
Dr. Chin has authored peer-reviewed publications in Practical Radiation Oncology, Advances in Radiation Oncology, JAMA Network Open, Cancers, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, Seminars in Radiation Oncology, Molecular Diagnosis & Therapy, JAMA Dermatology, Cancer, Head & Neck, and Gynecologic Oncology.
She has advanced training in modern radiation techniques, including stereotactic body radiation therapy, Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery, CT- and MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy, gynecologic high-dose-rate brachytherapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, partial breast irradiation, and MRI-guided radiation therapy.
Dr. Chin supports clinical trial participation when appropriate and believes clinical trials are an important way to expand treatment options, advance cancer care, and help patients access promising evidence-based approaches. She discusses available clinical trial opportunities with patients when relevant to their diagnosis, treatment goals, and overall care plan.
Dr. Chin speaks Mandarin Chinese.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Chin enjoys exploring Portland’s food scene, traveling, photography, playing badminton, and spending time with her family and pets.
