Dr. Adam Avant was drawn to radiation oncology because of the human connection involved in shared decision making, which is essential during cancer treatment. Knowing that no two patients are the same, he believes that every treatment plan should be tailored for an individual. Dr. Avant enjoys forming relationships with his patients and feels it is a privilege to be a part of his patient’s cancer journey, helping to guide and inform them during a difficult phase of their life.

Dr. Avant is continually energized by the evolving technical aspects of planning radiation treatment. He completed his advanced training in Gynecological HDR Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) at one the institutions which pioneered the technique of SBRT. He has treated many patients using this advanced technique in all areas of the body.

Outside of work, Dr. Avant enjoys hiking, camping, running, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two dogs. He loves exploring Portland’s countless restaurants and cafes, its many green spaces and easy access to nature, and the sense of community.
