Newest group will double the number of orthopedic specialists at The Oregon Clinic

Portland, OR – November 10, 2022 – The Oregon Clinic (TOC) is excited to announce that Orthopedic Specialists will join the organization in April of 2023, becoming “The Oregon Clinic Orthopedic Specialists”. Founded in 1973, Orthopedic Specialists has been providing comprehensive orthopedic care to the Portland Metro region for 50 years. Their board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeons complement TOC’s current orthopedic team with expertise in trauma, joint replacement, sports medicine, shoulder surgery, spine surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and hand surgery.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to expand our orthopedic offerings with such a talented group of surgeons,” said Dr. Richard Jamison, President of The Oregon Clinic. “This team brings an abundance of experience and will be a great asset to The Oregon Clinic’s patients.”

Orthopedic Specialists, P.C. brings four board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeons to The Oregon Clinic:

  • Stuart Montgomery, M.D. is board certified in orthopedic surgery and fellowship trained in shoulder surgery and sports medicine.
  • Gavin Button, M.D. is board certified in orthopedic surgery and fellowship-trained in spine. He also has a Master of Science in chemistry.
  • Jeffrey Mercer, M.D., Ph.D. is board certified in orthopedic surgery and fellowship-trained in foot and ankle reconstruction. He also has a Ph.D. in neurosciences.

The group also brings three Physician Assistants – Anthony Eames, Taylor Fielden, and Sean Conley - and 16 excellent staff to The Oregon Clinic.

“As a physician-led multi-specialty group, The Oregon Clinic is the right fit for our team,” said Dr. Jeff Mercer, President of Orthopedic Specialists. “Joining a large group like TOC will provide us with the administrative support to streamline our operations and allow us to focus more on patient care. We are confident this is the right step for Orthopedic Specialists, and we look forward to working together with the great group of physicians that have given The Oregon Clinic the reputation they have earned in our community.”
