The Oregon Clinic

The Oregon Clinic was named Oregon’s Fifth Top Workplace among large companies Thursday evening at an event held by The Oregonian in Portland. This is the fifth consecutive year The Oregon Clinic has been recognized as one of the top workplaces in Oregon and southwest Washington. The Oregon Clinic was the highest ranking health care provider on the list of large companies.

“It is an honor to continue to be thought of so highly by our employees,” said Scot Gudger, CEO at The Oregon Clinic. “The fact that year over year we continue to receive such a positive response is inspiring and shows that our physician-owned practice is succeeding in our commitment to provide an excellent workplace for our staff.”

The Oregonian partnered with Energage, an employee research and consulting firm, to determine the region’s Top Workplace rankings each year since 2012. 1,622 employers in the region were invited to participate and be assessed through employee surveys. Employees in the region completed surveys about employee engagement, organization health, benefits, work environment, job satisfaction, and more, resulting in the ranking of the top 100 workplaces.

In describing the process for ranking organizations, The Oregonian writes, “‘Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something organizations can buy,’ said Doug Claffey, chief executive officer of Energage. ‘It’s an achievement organizations have to work for.’”

79% of employees at The Oregon Clinic shared their opinions via the anonymous survey. Of those, 84% of employees said they’d highly recommend working at The Oregon Clinic to others, and 80% felt motivated to give their very best at work.

Employees at The Oregon Clinic responded to a survey and provided feedback on a variety of topics. One employee wrote, “I love my job and the people I work with. I appreciate the environment and culture I find here. I feel we contribute and make a difference in our community with the excellent care we are able to provide.”

“I love my work team, we work extremely well together,” described another employee. “I have autonomy to practice medicine in a compassionate and reasonably-paced fashion, which allows me the time I need to care well for each patient. I have good work life balance too.”

Another employee shared, “I like the diverse culture at The Oregon Clinic. I enjoy that TOC embraces change, there is always something new going on, or changes being made. The people that make TOC are nice and respectful. I like that TOC understands that each employee has a life outside of work and they do all they can to make sure employees has a sense of work, life balance. One of the best companies I have worked for.”

As the largest physician-owned multi-specialty medical practice in the region, The Oregon Clinic works to cultivate a culture that focuses on exceptional patient experiences and a supportive workplace for employees. The Oregon Clinic’s more than 1,190 employees include more than 270 providers, who provide expert care at more than 550,000 patient visits in our region each year.
