Ortho | Knee BioUni OATS Allograft

Knee cartilage tears and damage can cause pain and limit movement. BioUni® OATS® is a specialized cartilage tear repair technique performed by Dr. Aaron Schwartz to fix this problem.

BioUni refers to a specific type of Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System (OATs) procedure. It’s a minimally invasive surgery that only requires small incisions. This usually leads to quicker recovery and less pain after the procedure.

The BioUni OATS Technique is an allograft transplantation procedure used to reconstruct cartilage and bone defects in the knee. Damaged cartilage is replaced with allografted cartilage to restore joint function and alleviate pain.

Dr. Schwartz recommends this video on the BioUni OATS technique, shared courtesy of medical device company Arthrex, to help patients understand and prepare for this treatment option.
