Dr. Manisha Apte feels fortunate that she can use her deep knowledge of gastroenterology and procedural expertise to help her patients learn about and manage their GI health. She is honored to be trusted as a clinician and endoscopist while developing meaningful long-term patient-physician relationships.
Having focused one-on-one interactions with her patients is essential for Dr. Apte so she can guide them through their care with careful and clear explanations. She values getting to know her patients as people beyond their clinic visit or diagnosis, and enjoys learning about their hobbies, families, and health concerns. Seeing improvement in patients who have chronic GI diseases is the most rewarding part of Dr. Apte’s work.
Dr. Apte’s interest in medicine is based in the humanities and patient-centered care. Her training included five international trips to rural India and Rwanda to provide care in low-resource settings while learning how to build health care programs from scratch.
Dr. Apte recently moved to Portland from New Hampshire, where she spent over a decade in training and work. She loves being surrounded by nature and is excited to get to know the community while exploring the city’s great parks and amazing food. Outside of work, Dr. Apte is most often with her family enjoying outside activities, including taking their dog on trails, road biking or skiing, or simply walking around the neighborhood. She is also an avid baker and frequently tries out new recipes at home.
