Dr. Colin Mizuo specializes in trauma, reconstruction, limb preservation, and sports medicine. He enjoys working closely with patients to help them understand their diagnosis and to create a personalized treatment plan. Dr. Mizuo’s approach to personalized care is driven by combining evidence-based medicine with a patient’s individual circumstances. He believes that providing clear education during doctor-patient interactions is fundamental for building trust and setting treatment goals and expectations.
Dr. Mizuo has advanced training in trauma care, cartilage regeneration, arthroscopy, and complex reconstruction of the ankle, rearfoot, and forefoot, employing minimally invasive approaches when appropriate. He also has specialized expertise in diabetic limb salvage care.
During his military career, Dr. Mizuo served three years at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he treated the active duty and civilian population and received numerous distinguished awards. While there, he performed the first Matrix Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (MACI) procedure in the ankle at a military hospital in the United States.
Outside of work, Dr. Mizuo pursues outdoor activities like hiking, golf, and flag football. He is a Marvel comic and movie fanatic and enjoys traveling and tasting food from all over the world. Dr. Mizuo is joined on all his adventures by his cat, Baby Sasha.
