Per-oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM)
About
In 2010, the esophageal surgeons of the Oregon Clinic were the first surgeons in the United States to perform a per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) as treatment for achalasia. Since then nearly 300 POEM procedures have been performed by this group with >95% success rate. Patients love the incisionless procedure with very little down time and virtually no pain.
