The best way to protect your family is to not use fireworks at home. Attend public displays and leave the lighting to the professionals. Here are a few tips to help bring in Independence Day with a bang—and without injury.

  • Always follow directions on all fireworks.
  • Never give fireworks to small children or leave older kids unsupervised.
  • Always have water handy. When you’re finished, soak the used fireworks.
  • Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
