What is an obstetrician and gynecologist?
An obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN) is a physician who can not only meet all your gynecological needs, but also specializes in the management of pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care.
An obstetrician is a physician who focuses on caring for and maintaining overall health before, during, and after giving birth.
A gynecologist is a physician who specializes in the health of the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases.
Our OB/GYNs are surgeons who focus on providing full spectrum obstetrics, minimally invasive surgical procedures at the hospital and in our clinics, and promoting overall health, while also empowering our patients to understand their bodies, ask questions, and live healthy lives.
What is a certified nurse midwife and nurse practitioner?
In Oregon, certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners are recognized as independent healthcare providers who have hospital admitting privileges, are licensed to prescribe medications, and work side-by-side with physicians. Certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners receive a Master's level education.
Our certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners have become an integral part of our healthcare teams. With their combination of expertise and training, they have a special approach in providing patient care with just the right touch.
