Kent G. Benner, MD, FAASLD
About Me
For nearly 20 years, in an academic setting, I enjoyed teaching and doing clinical research on the diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis and advanced liver disease that has fostered advancements in patient care. Now, with my colleagues at The Oregon Clinic, I am dedicated to providing easy access for our community to cutting edge consultative care that includes the best available evaluation and treatment of liver and GI problems. We believe in providing personal, compassionate and efficient care by a team approach that includes the best trained physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and ancillary staff.
Dr. Benner graduated from UCLA and later completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. He completed two fellowships in gastroenterology; one at Washington University in St. Louis and the other at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).
Dr. Benner focuses on hepatology and other gastroenterology needs at The Oregon Clinic Gastroenterology East. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and a member of several organizations including the Oregon Medical Association, the American Federation for Clinical Research, and the International Liver Transplantation Society. He is Chair of the NIDDK for the National Institutes of Health and has been a reviewer for several medical journals including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Liver Transplantation and Surgery, and the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology.
