The Oregon Clinic’s Portland Gastroenterology division welcomes Dr. Hong Shen.  Dr. Shen is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His special interest lies in colon cancer screening and treating patients with viral hepatitis. Most recently, he served as acting director of the Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology at Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Shen received his medical degree from the University of Western Australia, School of Medicine and Dentistry in Perth Australia in 1997. He completed his Internal medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Originally from Shanghai, China, Dr. Shen has lived in the Midwest for the past 12 years before recently moving to the West Coast. He is the author of numerous research articles and frequently presents research findings at medical conferences and assemblies. Dr. Shen has been involved in clinical trials for the treatment of Hepatitis B and endoscopic therapy for Gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Dr. Shen now lives in Portland with his wife and enjoys hiking and traveling.
