Irregular or Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)

Overview

Irregular or abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) can be a symptom of many underlying conditions, most of which are benign, but some can cause severe discomfort. The Oregon Clinic Obstetricians & Gynecologists provide a full range of health services to help diagnose and treat irregular and/or abnormal uterine bleeding.

AUB EDUCATION

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) represents a wide spectrum of symptoms including bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse, heavier periods, longer periods or more frequent periods and bleeding after menopause.

DIAGNOSING AUB

Our providers will ask about health history, menstrual cycle and perform a physical exam. They may also order appropriate imaging studies and laboratory testing to further investigate.

AUB TREATMENT

A treatment plan can include medical therapy or, in some cases, minor and major surgical procedures.

HORMONE THERAPY

Depending on diagnosis, our providers can help manage symptoms of AUB through hormonal therapy like contraceptives, IUDs, integrative management or progesterone-only therapies.
