Dr. Sarah “Betsy” Rodriguez with The Oregon Clinic Appointed to Governing Board for Leading Gastrointestinal Society

The Oregon Clinic, the state’s largest multi-specialty, physician-owned medical practice, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah A. (Betsy) Rodriguez, MD, to the governing board of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). Dr. Rodriguez is a gastroenterologist and endoscopist with The Oregon Clinic Gastroenterology – West and medical director of the Medical Procedures Unit at Providence St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Rodriguez began her duties on the ASGE governing board in May during Digestive Disease Week in Chicago, Ill.

“The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy is an outstanding national organization with a long history of advocating for gastroenterologists and patients, providing educational resources, research opportunities, promotion of innovation in endoscopy, and a multitude of other services for those who perform and receive endoscopic services. I am so honored to be able to be a part of the leadership of this society. It is my hope and intention that I will provide excellent service and advance the mission of the ASGE,” stated Dr. Rodriguez, The Oregon Clinic.

Dr. Rodriguez became a member of ASGE in 2004 and has served as the Chair of the ASGE Technology Committee. Currently she is conducting research on diseases of the pancreas in conjunction with researchers at OHSU and serves as a reviewer for GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, ASGE’s peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Dr. Rodriguez received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky in 1996 and completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She served in the United States Army from 1999-2003, earning the rank of Major, at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., and at the General Hospital, Seoul, Korea. Dr. Rodriguez is active in research and education and is the recipient of several honors, awards and grants. She is a frequent lecturer and course director at national meetings and has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
