Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy - ENT East Division
Tonsillectomy is a procedure to remove the tonsils from the back of the throat. It is performed in children and adults who have problems with chronic or recurrent tonsil infections, or in patients whose tonsils block the airway while sleeping, causing apnea. Adenoidectomy is a procedure to remove the adenoids because of chronic infection or obstruction of nasal breathing. Adenoidectomy is often combined with tonsillectomy and/or ear tubes.
