BOTOX, DYSPORT, XEOMIN

About

Botox, Dysport & Xeomin are popular non-surgical injectables that reduce or eliminate frown lines, forehead creases, crow's feet near the eyes and the thick bands of the neck for up to six months. Botox is a cosmetic and purified form of the botulinum toxin which works to temporarily paralyze the muscles of the face that cause wrinkles. It also gives the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. This procedure is done in-office by one of our board-certified surgeons.

Botox, Dysport & Xeomin are considered by many to be wonder drugs. When the muscle is relaxed, so is the overlying skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines. It has been used over 15 years to treat a variety of different problems caused by overactive muscles and is FDA approved to treat the lines between the eyebrows. The results are visible within 3-10 days and are not permanent, but last up to 4 months. However, with continued treatment, the skin texture over the muscle also can remodel, continuing to improve the appearance of the wrinkle.

BOTOX® for Perspiration

A small percentage of the population suffers from excessive sweating, known medically as ‘hyperhidrosis’. This problem can cause severe embarrassment and lead to avoidance of public and private social interactions. In cases that are not improved by other medical treatment, BOTOX® has been FDA approved to treat excessive underarm, or axillary, sweating. The effects last between 6 months to 2 years, with minimal side effects.

BOTOX® for Migraines

Botox can also be used to treat migraine headaches.

FAQ

How do I know if my Botox is really Botox?

While a great price is a tempting offer, make sure that you are putting your health ahead of your pocketbook. There have been many stories in the news lately discussing recent cases of counterfeit Botox scams. This has left many patients wondering how to know if what they are receiving is genuine. It is important that each patient be sure that they are receiving a product that has been FDA approved. A counterfeit product that has not been approved by the FDA may be hazardous to your health. Here are a few tricks to learn that will help protect you when receiving Botox injections:

1. Look for the hologram on the Botox vial. Every authentic vial manufactured by Allergan will have this hologram

2. Look for the US License #1145 on the side of the box. This indicates that the product is authentic and has been licensed for use by the government of the United States.

3. Ask your provider how he or she obtained the Botox that will be used on you. Botox can only be obtained by ordering directly from the manufacturer, Allergan, or by ordering through an authorized distributor. Any other method of obtaining Botox may result in the use of an illegal or unauthorized product.

When it comes to your health, you have to stay proactive. Don’t be afraid to ask questions of your provider. He or she will be more than willing to answer your inquiries and guide you to other important information. While maintaining your youthfulness may come at a small price, that cost should not involve risk to your health.
